HONORED PRESIDENT JOKOWI & ENTOURAGE AT TOBA FESTIVAL 2016

This week day bring joy to the citizen of Batak clan who resided around Toba Lake when number one in the country, Presiden Jokowi, first lady Iriana and entourage came to open Toba Festival on Monday, August 21, 2016.

Women long line carry rice over their head to honor the President. The rice not to be cooked in the event but as the old traditional of local cultures. Every traditional party like wedding party, extended families, friends, neigborghs came carried the rice over the head by the women only. As the symbol of mutual cooperation ot the community.

The honored guests treated as a King in the ceremony as President and first lady used old traditional cap and Ulos, traditional craft over the right shoulders. Ulos as the symbol of closed family relationship between the host and the guests. Take a look to a long Ulos, 500 meters, endless Ulos  to welcome the President and entourage to be the closed family of Batak community.

I thought the President feeling how warm the community welcomed him and how the local community hoped Government seriously help to develop modern facilities in Lake Toba to attract tourist,s local or foreign.
At his speech President promised to procure a fine tourist ship to serve the passengers who have long line to buy the tickets. Also promised to build modern dock and facilities.

In the afternoon President joined the parade of 3.500 participants from 26 provinces of Indonesia start from Balige city. Total gathering about 10.000 people. The warm and hospitality of the host to the guests.

I have one suggestion for the Committee, not change the schedule even asked by the Governor, Minister or President. The festival is International event and many foreign guests, cancel to came
because of schedule change from September to August 2016.
Two of guests, a jazz player from Milano, Italy and film director from Kuala Lumpur canceled to come. The Jazz player even signed the contract with the Committee.
