Biennale art festival Yogjakarta was end year bi-annual art festival, this year was the 10th, started in year 1988. The first 4 festival had been covered painting arts, followed by fine arts in the fift and sixth. This year theme was "Art archive movement in Jogjakarta".

Biannale come from Italian, bi, a prefix meaning of two and anno, year, describing an event that happened every two year, mostly in art festival.

Festival held in a full month, December 10 - January 10, 2010,  in a well know arts center of Indonesia, where  venues scatter in several places such as Taman Budaya Jogjakarta, Jogjakarta National Museum, Bank Indonesia, galleries and public spaces in many corners of the city and had affected the artist  touch of Jogjakarta city's face. Some 138 artists will perform their arts in 4 venues, so people with art's soul would satisfy their eyes to watch the performances, paintings, sculptures and installations.

Its interesting to find out what a new arts in the last decade, in this Biannale will show up a new arts and every artists from all over Indonesia and abroad, eager to see. This time 3 artists show up the new arts that never performed in previous biannale, such as instalation made from batik's material, wood grafis's schulputures and a beyond the standard fashion show as fashion show model for parking uniforms by a wowen artist.

In this 10th Biannale the organizer realized that beautiful the arts, performances stayed in their isolation area, a wide distance from the society, that mostly didn't aware that in their neighborhood, in their province, country a precious arts available to be enjoyed, appraised and paid an appreciation.

Since the local authorities paid a serious serious attention to this event, the committee, this year headed by Biennale Director, Mr.Butet Kartaredjasa, a well known voice imitator,  kept the opening in the end of year, so travel agents throughout of Indonesia and abroad had the fix scheduled to be offered in their itinerary brochures, packet tour  to enjoy Christmas season, the end of year in warm climate countries. The tourists offered additional, meaningful art festival.

Some photo above were the installations, fine arts, sculpture . I think its better off if we visit the festival, watching on the spot then put a notes, comments or whatever evaluation would be, especially from art point of view, from art's soul.
